Solar Incentives in Massachusetts
In Massachusetts, business owners can take advantage of the Modified Accelerated Cost Recovery System (MACRS). This program allows business owners to recover some of the costs of solar panel installation by choosing either a 100% first-year bonus depreciation, or a five-year MACRS schedule.
Launched by the Department of Energy Resources, the Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target (SMART) Program is a production-based incentive that is paid out by investor-owned utilities to solar system owners.
Commercial building owners can participate in the Property-Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing program, which allows owners to borrow money to pay for energy improvements and pay it back over the useful life of the system, up to 20 years.
